I haven’t logged on to my WordPress dashboard for quite a while now, and as I did so just a minute ago, the WordPress upgrade alert grabbed my attention.
WordPress 2.7.1 is available! Please update now.
As usual, I clicked the ‘Please update now‘ link (which I have removed from the one above), and then chose ‘Upgrade Automatically‘ on the next screen as some sort of reflex.
Surprisingly, a very unfamiliar error greeted me:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare pclziputilpathreduction() (previously declared in /home/kixtrix/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/lib/pclzip.lib.php:5421) in /home/kixtrix/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-pclzip.php on line 5498
Damn, right? Still feeling the throbbing pain of my head (after vigorously trying to pull my hairs out), I’m currently crawling the web for answers. Well let’s hope I find an answer quick. Until then.
By the way, the WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin did not work — it keeps on telling me that I have the most recent version installed.

The error your received is caused by having the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin installed. If you remove the plugin you should be able to use the new built-in Wordpress upgrader, and if that fails you can always upgrade Wordpress the old fashioned way (manually ftp the new files to your server).
Hey, awesome, Jon! It worked. Thanks a lot.
(Stupid of me for overlooking that matter)
