Firefox gets skinned

If you’re one of those people who are fond of skinning their stuff, then you’ve got to have the Personas add-on for Firefox.

What are personas?
Personas, according to its official site;

…are lightweight, easy-to-install and easy-to-change “skins” for your Firefox web browser.

Instead of having to download individual add-ons every time you want a new look for your Firefox, with Personas, all you have to do is point and click. Literally.

It works by installing an add-on on your Firefox browser which controls the appearance of your browser window. Whenever you visit the Personas gallery, the add-on detects events that allow it to change your browser’s look. By hovering your mouse over (or clicking) an item in the gallery, the add-on picks up details about the Persona, then automatically applies itself on your browser.

I’ve tried this add-on just recently, and honestly liked the way it changed my browser’s look. Plus, anyone can make his own Persona. Simply cool.

Remove ads with AdBlock Plus and Firefox

Admit it, you hate seeing ads. Whether you are a publisher or plain reader, ads are irritating, obnoxious, and annoying. They pop up like ’shrooms everywhere, and they eat up the real estate of your screen.

BUT, you don’t have to pay the site owner to remove them, all you need is a good browser and a plugin to get rid of ‘em.

The answer — Firefox and AdBlock Plus.

Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them.

Right-click on a banner and choose “Adblock” from the context menu – the banner won’t be downloaded again. Maybe even replace parts of the banner address with star symbols to block similar banners as well. Or you select a filter subscription when Adblock Plus starts up the first time, then even this simple task will usually be unnecessary: the filter subscription will block most advertisements fully automatically.

After installing AdBlock plus on your Firefox, you won’t see any ads anywhere — unless you want to override the default settings and see the ads. To do that, click on the AdBlock plus icon on the upper-righthand side of the screen, and choose “Disable on <site name>”. Refresh the page, and you’ll see the ads again.

To block a specific image from appearing on your browser, right-click on it, and choose ‘AdBlock Image’. Simple. It’s pure genius!
